"LSU Sports Programs" (12/29/07)
LSU has a proud tradition of sports, but exactly what LSU sports programs does LSU offer, and how good are they?
- LSU Football- The flagship LSU sport is the LSU football program! Every home game draws over 90,000 fans into LSU Tiger Stadium, and many, many more fans just hang around outside for the tailgating. To give you an idea of how great this LSU sports program is, their record over the last several years with LSU Coach Les Miles is 11-2 (2005), 11-2 (2006), and 11-2 (2007, with the big BCS game still to come). LSU football dominates!
- LSU Men's Basketball- The men's basketball program has not done so great in recent years. In the 1980's, this LSU sports program went to the Final Four twice, but it has been fairly dry since. Recent records for this LSU sports program are 7-4 (2007, as of 12/28), 17-15 (2006), and 27-9 (2005).
- LSU Women's Basketball- Out of all of the LSU sports programs, this is one that has really taken off in recent years. Not so long ago, they couldn't give tickets away for LSU women's basketball. Today, they actually pack the PMAC fairly often. Recent records for this LSU sports program in recent years are 7-3 (2007, as of 12/28), 30-8 (2006), and 31-4 (2005).
- LSU Golf (Men's and Women's)- The LSU golf sports programs have gained a lot of momentum in recent years.
- LSU Gymnastics- This is another one of the LSU sports programs that doesn't get a lot of attention, but these LSU athletes give it all they've got. Their recent records are 19-13 (2007), 19-16 (2006), and 26-7 (2005).
- LSU Soccer- This is one of the very few LSU sports programs that I know absolutely nothing about, and I don't care to. Their recent records are 12-5-7 (2007), 9-8-3 (2006), and 8-10-2 (2005).
- LSU Softball- Have you ever seen how fast them women can chunk that ball? It's nuts! Their recent records are 55-12 (2007), 55-14 (2006), and 31-23 (2005).
- LSU Swimming and Diving- This is another one of the LSU sports programs that I know nothing about, and I don't want to. If I want to watch some swimming, I'll catch it on Baywatch.
- LSU Tennis (Men's and Women's)- This is an LSU sports program that is cool to watch if you get free tickets, but otherwise it is a waste of time and space on this page.
- LSU Track And Field- LSU has dominated this sport in recent years (women's and men's). That's about all I know.
- LSU Volleyball- This is one of the weird LSU sports programs that I actually enjoy. Their recent records are 25-8 (2007), 26-6 (2006), and 21-8 (2005).
