"The Championship Party At LSU Was Awesome!"We just got back from the championship party at LSU Tiger Stadium for our 2007 BCS champion football team! It was really great. Here is a summary of what happened, and a lot of pictures for those of you that couldn't come.
We got to Tiger Stadium at around 1:00. It was very cold today! I know it's nothing if you live in Alaska, but 45 degrees is really cold in Baton Rouge! The wind was blowing a lot too, and the weather man said it felt like 33 degrees or so. It was cloudy outside as well, and it just felt so cold! We hanged out near the PMAC for a while and listened to the band. We ate some jambalaya that was really good, and just stayed warm until the golden band from tiger land marched down the hill. They finally came at around 1:50, but they weren't playing any songs for some reason.
Then we went into Tiger Stadium (Death Valley). They had the place looking really cool. A big sign said, "Welcome To The Celebration Party". The center of the field was freshly painted to say that LSU was the national champions. They had a tent and bleachers near the center of the field for the coaches and football players. It just looked great. We sat back and listened to the LSU band play some songs until the party started at around 2:30.
When the championship celebration party started, it was so exciting. They played some of the greatest moments in the 2007 LSU season on the big screens. Everyone was cheering and clapping. Then all of the players were announced as they ran onto the field. The biggest player that all of us wanted to cheer for wasn't there. Jacob Hester was training in Arizona or something. It was cool how Matt Flynn came though. He was supposed to be at some all star game, but he cancelled that to be here.
Then one person after another started giving speeches and congratulation the LSU football team. The new governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, gave a cool speech. He said that he used to sell hot dogs in Tiger Stadium to watch the game for free. The mayor of Baton Rouge, Kip Holden, gave the funniest speech. He's a black man. He said something like, "When I came here today I was a soul brother. With this weather I became a cold brother. Now I'm just a fudgesicle!" That was pretty funny. The chancellor of LSU, Sean O'Keefe, gave a nice speech. He was just fired/ quit a few days ago. A lot of people were cheering for him.
Then they presented a bunch of trophies. LSU got trophies from the AP sports writers, the SEC, the BCS, and some other groups that I can't remember. They also showed another video of LSU crushing Ohio State in the BCS Championship game in the Superdome. That was awesome! The four captains that were there received all of the awards. They were Craig Steltz, Matt Flynn, Patrick Fisher, and Glenn Dorsey. It was really cool. All of the LSU captains gave a nice speech too. Dorsey's was the funniest.
At the end of the championship party, LSU coach Les Miles gave an awesome speech. He was very proud. All of the LSU fans screamed at the end. The LSU band played my favorite song, and they shot confetti all over the field. It was great! I am so happy that we went to the championship party!!!!
